THE CHAIRMAN, NSIWC PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE NEW SGF.

The Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Chief Richard Onwuka Egbule, Ph.D, MFR on Tuesday, 14th June 2011 paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON in his office in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Commission, Chief Egbule congratulated the new SGF on his appointment. He informed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation of the functions, activities and laudable programmes of the Commission, as well as numerous successes recorded by the Commission, in the recent past, including the recent National Minimum Wage of N18,000.00 per month, which he regretted had been generating a lot of debates and unnecessary controversy.

In his response, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON thanked the Chairman of the Commission for finding time to visit him. He assured the Chairman that his office would be accessible to the Commission at all times and would work with the Commission in order to achieve its mandate for the good of the nation.

He stated that the Commission has been in public discourse for quite sometime now due to its numerous activities and achievements, especially the new National Minimum Wage. He however, reminded the Commission of the enormous responsibility of ensuring that Nigerian workers are remunerated adequately and at the same time, ensuring that workers’ wage bill does not cause any negative effect on the national economy.

Senator Anyim noted with pleasure that the Commission was the first among the pool of parastatals of government to pay visit to this office since he assumed  duties as the new SGF.

The Chairman of the Commission was accompanied by Alh. Ibrahim Abdullahi Commissioner in charge of Productivity, Prices and Incomes Department; Ambassador Abdullahi Madaki Bage, Commissioner in charge of Compensation Department, Mrs. Titilayo Iroche, Commissioner in charge of Evaluation and Grading Department and Dr. E.A. Thompson the Secretary to the Commission.
